The San Diego Comic-Con 2017 Early Bird Hotel Sale started today! If you were able to score SDCC badges during Returning Registration, and you don’t mind staying in the Hotel Circle/Mission Valley area, or by the airport, you might want to consider booking your room at one of the eleven hotels participating in the Early Bird Hotel Sale. Read on for more details!
As usual, no downtown hotels are available during the Early Bird Hotel Sale. However, if you don’t want to go through the stress of the General Hotel Sale (aka “Hotelpocalypse” – click here to read about our experience with that in 2015), and if you’re more concerned about saving money than having a hotel in close proximity to the Convention Center, then the Early Bird Hotel Sale is a great option. Plus you get incentives that won’t be available if you wait until the General Hotel Sale, such as complimentary or discounted wi-fi, breakfast, and parking. But be aware that the Early Bird Hotel Sale requires a 3 or 4 night minimum (depending on the hotel), you have to pay for your entire stay in advance, and there are no refunds.
The hotels participating in the sale are as follows:
1. Courtyard by Marriott SD Airport/Liberty Station ($215-$260)
2. Courtyard by Marriott SD Mission Valley ($205-$215)
3. Crowne Plaza San Diego ($191-$203)
4. Days Inn Hotel SD Hotel Circle (Mission Valley) ($170)
5. DoubleTree San Diego Mission Valley ($205-$245)
6. Handlery Hotel San Diego ($181-$191)
7. Hilton San Diego Mission Valley ($204-$234)
8. San Diego Marriott Mission Valley ($201-$251)
9. Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina ($219-$259)
10. Sheraton San Diego – Mission Valley ($193-$213)
11. Town and County Resort ($189-$229)
Prices vary from hotel to hotel, and sometimes depend on the number of people staying in your room, as well as the length of your stay. Based on a 3 night minimum stay, the least expensive option is Days Inn at $170 per night (number of occupants does not matter), while the most expensive, if you want 2 beds and have 4 people, is Courtyard by Marriott SD Airport/Liberty Station at $260 per night, which requires a 4 night minimum stay.
The Early Bird Hotels are located 3 to 7 miles away from the San Diego Convention Center, but if you won’t have a car with you, don’t worry, as CCI provides a complimentary shuttle service to take you to and from SDCC.
If you will have a car, note that some of these hotels charge for parking, and that cost is not included in the price of the hotel room. For example, self-parking at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina is $32/day. However, if you book your room at Courtyard by Marriott SD Mission Valley, as a special incentive through this sale, complimentary parking is included for up to 2 cars per room per day. Upon accessing the Early Bird Hotel Sale, you can determine whether there is a parking fee by clicking into a hotel, then clicking on the “Info” tab, and then on the “Parking” drop-down menu.
The Early Bird Hotel Sale ends on May 1, 2017. Name changes and adding nights to your stay will be accepted until that date.
