San Diego Comic-Con 2017 took place at the San Diego Convention Center Wednesday, July 19 through Sunday, July 23. Follow along as we recount our experience at the con!
After the Kingsman: The Golden Circle panel wrapped up at 12pm on Thursday, we headed into the Exhibit Hall for the first time this year, since we didn’t have Preview Night, and it took too long to get into the convention center and get our bags, books, and lanyards earlier that morning.
We spent about an hour walking up and down the aisles of the Exhibit Hall floor. As is the norm at SDCC, it was pretty crowded, and every booth had a long line for whatever activity that it had, and many had a long line just to buy things. The WB booth is usually a good place to go for swag (with a fast moving line), but they didn’t seem to be giving out any swag at that time. The Walking Dead booth is always a cool spectacle to see, with actors dressed as walkers. The photo op this year was to take a picture on the throne next to King Ezekiel’s tiger, Shiva, on which the head actually moved.
When we passed by the Marvel booth, they were giving out free Infinity War posters, which we were able to easily walk up and get with no trouble or having to stand in line at all. Josh had seen people walking around with Dark Horse tote bags that had Zelda on one side, so we stood in their short swag line, but it seemed they were out of those, so we just picked up the other swag they had available. DC Comics booth is always a cool booth to stop by. This year, they had the costumes for the Justice League characters on display.
Another favorite booth is the LEGO booth, as they always have life-size figures of pop culture characters built out of LEGOs. This year they had Luke Skywalker, Thor, and The Flash.
I have to mention, that in the past I have often seen pictures of the Exhibit Hall floor taken from above, and always wondered where people were taking these pictures from. Well, this year, my sixth SDCC, I finally found it! You just take the escalators at back of the Exhibit Hall floor, and there’s a large window on the floor up there. So that is how I got the photo you see at the top of this page.
After about an hour, we had made our way from one end of the convention center to the other (although, admittedly, we didn’t do a very thorough job of walking every aisle from front to back), and we decided to head over to Ballroom 20 for the Battlestar Galactica reunion panel that was scheduled to start at 2:30pm. Stay tuned for our recap and photos of that panel!
In the meantime, you can view more Exhibit Hall photos below.
This was the first time since my first comic-con that I enjoyed the exhibit hall until Sunday, so much stuff to do the previous days!
