In the aftermath of the leak about the coverup of the circumstances of Billy Malone’s death, Oliver, Quentin, and Thea try to figure out what to do. Adrian tries to resign and accept full responsibility, but Oliver says no, that he will take responsibility, since he’s the mayor. Oliver asks Adrian to be his lawyer at the impeachment hearing.
Over at the Arrow Cave, Curtis works on some tech — autonomous mini-drones. Oliver drops by and asks Felicity’s help with Susan, who isn’t returning his phone calls. Felicity doesn’t think it’s appropriate, but Oliver guilts her into it. She also gives Oliver some words of encouragement about beating the impeachment. Meanwhile, the Vigilante gears up to go after Oliver.
Before the impeachment hearing, Oliver sees Susan and tries to talk to her, but she isn’t interested. The hearing begins.
Back at the Arrow Cave, Felicity tells Diggle about Pandora, the data that the hacktivist group gave her.
After the proceedings that day, Thea suggests that they throw Malone under the bus, but Oliver refuses. Suddenly, the Vigilante attacks the limo they are traveling in, shooting it up, causing it to flip. Dinah uses her Canary Cry, and Oliver tells the others to run away. It’s just Oliver and the Vigilante, but the police show up, and the Vigilante decides to split.
It is possible that Oliver might have a concussion. Thea heads over to the Arrow Cave to let everyone know what happened. Thea asks Felicity to get her some dirt on Councilman Cullens. Oliver goes to the doctor, who clears him, but not until after a couple hours of observation. He tries calling Susan, who doesn’t answer.
Dinah examines the scene of the Vigilante’s attack, and finds a scrap of material that came from the visor the Vigilante was wearing. Dinah calls the Arrow Cave, and Curtis says that he has tech that can track it to the individual user. But before Dinah can bring it back to the Arrow Cave, Adrian corners her and takes the piece of visor from her, saying he’ll log it in for her.
Elsewhere, Prometheus finds and attacks the Vigilante. The two fight, and Prometheus throws the Vigilante off of a rooftop. When Prometheus removes his mask, we see that it’s Adrian, who calls and reports a sighting of the Vigilante.
Felicity tells Diggle about the info on Councilman Cullens that she sent to Thea. Diggle tries to tell Felicity that this isn’t her, and that her superhero power is empathy.
At SCPD, Dinah is able to get back the piece of visor, which Adrian leaves lying around, presumably on purpose.
Oliver confronts Thea about the info on Cullens, which Felicity told him about, thanks to the talk that she had with Diggle. He tries to talk her out of it, and is disappointed about her actions lately.
Curtis finalizes his tech and uses it on the piece of visor. The Arrow Team heads out to track the location.
Adrian reports to Oliver that it’s likely that the Council will not let him testify at the hearing without swaying Cullens, so the only other way out is to offer up a sacrificial lamb — either Malone or Adrian himself. However, Oliver decides to throw the Green Arrow under the bus instead.
It turns out that the location Curtis’s tech tracks the visor piece to is a building right across from City Hall. The Vigilante sets up a sniper rifle and aims it toward the front doors. Dinah tells Oliver that the Vigilante is going to shoot him the moment he steps through the doors. However, upon confirming that the team is on site, he is confident that everything will be fine, and walks out to deliver his press conference.
The Vigilante’s alert goes off, notifying him about the Arrow Team entering the building, so he goes down and confronts them, shooting, as they fight back as much as they can. Curtis uses his tech to attack the Vigilante, who then disappears.
In Oliver’s press conference, he announces that the reason for the cover up was so that people wouldn’t think the Green Arrow was a cop killer. However, he says that the Green Arrow is not a hero, and disavows him.
While waiting to hear the verdict, Susan stops by Oliver’s office to tell him that she got her job back because an anonymous hacker confessed that the plagiarism story was fake. Adrian and Quentin interrupt to report that the Council voted against impeachment. Oliver delivers the good news to Thea, who tells him that she has decided to resign so that she can try to fix herself.
Oliver reports the good news to everyone at the Arrow Cave and thanks them for saving his life, working hard, and banding together.
Curtis heads off to meet up with Paul for dinner. To Curtis’s dismay, Paul hands him divorce papers.
Felicity accepts the invitation to join Helix, the hacktivist group.
Adrian corners Susan at her car and asks to talk about an exclusive. She tries to set up an interview for the next day, but he won’t let her leave, saying this story is about life or death.
Flashbacks
After being found by Gregor and his men, Antaloy makes a request for an exam, which the others feel obligated to honor, since he is a captain. Oliver says that they need to find evidence that Gregor’s deal with Kovar benefits him, and not Bratva. He has one hour to do so. Oliver sneaks into Kovar’s house and finds some info on his computer. He returns with Kovar’s laptop and reports that it contains info about transfers of 40 million rubles that Gregor has not disclosed. This influences the vote between Gregor and Anatoly, which Anatoly wins. Gregor’s supporters pull guns and fire upon the others.
Her Thoughts on Arrow, Season 5 Episode 15: Fighting Fire with Fire
At long last, we have finally learned the identity of Prometheus! Which is good, because I was getting kind of tired of being strung along. I had previously suspected Adrian of being the Vigilante, because of that one episode awhile back when he got angry and was pounding the table when questioning a suspect awhile back. It seemed to make more sense than him being Prometheus, with him being an officer of the law, wanting to catch bad guys, that he would be the Vigilante. Kind of like Laurel. But then when the Vigilante went after Oliver in the limo, that changed my mind about that. Interestingly, very shortly after, Adrian was revealed to be Prometheus.
So we’re still left wondering, who is the Vigilante? I started thinking maybe it was Paul, the way Curtis kept mentioning him this episode, and thought it would be an ironic twist considering his attitude toward Curtis being a part of the Arrow Team. But then, he wouldn’t blatantly attack Curtis as he did during this episode. I’m beginning to think that it might be a female. But it would have to be someone who doesn’t like Oliver. Susan Williams, perhaps? Maybe that’s why Adrian went after her at the end of the episode. Who knows, though. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Vigilante’s identity was dragged out for awhile longer since we just got the big reveal about Prometheus, so the writers figure they can wait awhile for another reveal.
What does the disavowal of the Green Arrow mean for the Arrow Team going forward? Will they continue to operate as usual? After all, Oliver started out being on the wrong side of the law, but kept doing what he was doing anyway. It could just be like the good ol’ days, continuing to fight the good fight while hiding from the law.
Kind of not looking forward to the next episode, with Susan becoming a victim, and Oliver stepping up even more to be her hero. Sure, I wouldn’t mind having her out of the picture (if you haven’t guessed by now, I’m not a Susan fan), but not if it means martyring her. I’m more looking forward to seeing what happens when Oliver learns about Adrian being Prometheus.
