Episode Recap of Agents of SHIELD Season 3 Episode 6: Among Us Hide
On this episode of Agents of SHIELD, the episode opens with Agent May visiting Garner, who is in pretty bad shape, but alive. Coulson is there too. May asks what happened, and Garner recounts what happened. He talks about HYDRA and their burning down the store. Garner said that a SHIELD agent tailed Garner, and saved him, but the a lighter dropped, igniting the gas. He managed to barely make it out.
Hunter, meanwhile, wants to check in on Garner, but May won’t. Coulson also takes Hunter off Ward, but puts May on. Speaking of Ward, he is ticked that his man let Hunter get so close. Ward tells his man to take care of Alex if he is still alive.
Coulson visits Daisy, and she seems to have a theory about Lash. Daisy thinks Lash is in the ATCU. Daisy seems to be concerned that Coulson is getting too friendly with Rosalind, but Coulson reassures. Meanwhile May decides to get a little physical with Bobbi, and they wind up in a physical fight. Blaming Bobbi for Hunter nearly getting Garner killed. It turns out that May was just seeing if Bobbi is combat ready, and based on her fighting ability, she thinks she is more than ready to go. May tells Bobbi that she is going on a mission with her.
Hunter decides to talk with Bobbi before she and May head out, and Hunter says he has to go. Bobbi refuses to let him, and tells him he was too quick to violence. On the way to their mission, May and Bobbi talk about the mission, and they are tracking a HYDRA bank account. They head to the Cayman islands to see what they can find out. Fitz is working on some fake IDs for May and Bobbi to get in to the bank in the Caymans, while Hunter asks Fitz if he’s saving Simmons’ friend on the other side of the portal, but Fitz thinks it is the right thing to do.
Speaking of Von Strucker, he has reached out to one of his father’s acquaintances. He seems to have his own ideas to get HYDRA going, and help Von Strucker as well.
Coulson meanwhile is on his way to tour Rosalind’s facility, but Rosalind has an emergency come up. She pulls over to let Coulson out, but he doesn’t move. She refuses at first, but then agrees. It looks like we are going to be seeing Rosalind’s house.
Back at SHIELD, Daisy asks Garner about Lash. Daisy asks Garner why Lash left him alive. She seems puzzled. Garner does as well, but Mack seems to have some theories. He thinks Banks, Rosalind’s man, could be Lash. They decide to tail him. Hunter overhears the conversation and offers to drive for them.
In the Caymans, May and Bobbi pose as safety deposit box owners to get into the vault. Inside the vault, they are left alone with “their” box, but they get moving into what their plan is–they blow all of the locks on the wall so they can get to the box they are looking for–box 38. Fitz remotely helps them, but an alarm in the bank has been armed. The two girls are surrounded pretty quickly. May wants to throw down right away, but Bobbi wants to try to talk their way out. Eventually that doesn’t work though, and Bobbi is forced to fight along with May.
Back with Hunter, Mack, and Daisy, they are watching Banks. Finally spotting him, Hunter tails him in their truck. When he stops, Daisy and Mack realize that Banks might be going somewhere they can’t get to him for a while, so Hunter makes the rash move of tranquilizing Banks and taking him back to the truck. They test his blood to see if he is Lash, and it turns out he is not. They return him to his car. They do get some information to check out, which turns out to be Rodsalind’s base. Mack and Daisy see Coulson hanging out and they are not really happy about it.
Back with Rosalind and Coulson, it looks like Rosalind has been robbed. Coulson notices everything in the apartment seems a little too staged. Coulson thinks that Rosalind might be buttering up Coulson. But Rosalind seems offended, and takes Coulson to her facility.
Garner has a conversation with Simmons, who is giving him advice rather than the other way around. Then Simmons talks to Fitz about the portal, but Fitz doesn’t see a way to get the statue back to go back to the other world, but he will not give up. But we also see that Fitz is looking into Will’s past.
Moving over to Ward, he gets a call from the older HYDRA man, who threatens Ward. This man offers “redemption” to Ward, for using Von Strucker’s son in his plan. VonStrucker is murdered though, but then May finds him. Von Strucker tells May that Garner is Lash. We then see a flashback of what really happened in the store Garner was injured in.
Finally, Lincoln makes contact with Daisy, but he still doesn’t trust SHIELD. Garner overheard part of the conversation and seems interested in bringing Lincoln in.
Josh’s Thoughts: Agents of SHIELD, Season 3 Episode 6: Among Us Hide
So, it looks like Garner is our Lash. I did not see that coming. Like the episode steered us, I thought that someone in the ATCU was going to be Lash. It looks like it is someone a lot closer than we thought. Now the question is why? I am going to make a guess and say that Lash is killing the Inhumans because he feels they are a threat to the world, and taking them down would keep the world safer. Lash keeping Daisy alive could support that theory as well, because Lash doesn’t see Daisy as a threat, and they have some sort of bond.
I am curious to see what May’s next move is. I wonder if she believes Von Struckers’ telling of the story. I have a feeling we will find out next episode though.
It is good to see that Bobbi is ready to go back into the field, but it looks like Hunter might need a break given how brash he has been attacking lately. I guess his idea made it easier to eliminate Banks, it could certainly cause trouble for SHIELD and ATCU relations if anyone finds out what Hunter did.
As for Ward, he seems to have both an ally and competitor it seems with this new HYDRA player. It will be interesting to see where this leads. I am going to guess we will only be seeing this new HYDRA guy around for a little while as Ward figures out how to get use the man then eliminate him.
But next episode seems to be focusing on Lash, so we will have to see where that goes!
Violet’s Thoughts on Season 3 Episode 6 of Agents of SHIELD: Among Us Hide
Wow, I did not see that coming at all, that Garner is Lash. My first instinct was that it was Banks, just like the others thought this episode, so I was surprised when the results came back that he wasn’t an Inhuman. At that point, I wasn’t sure who to think was Lash, though it seemed logical that he would be in the ATCU. I definitely was not expecting to find out that it was Garner! He seems like such a level-headed, trustworthy guy. It feels counterintuitive that he’s the one going around trying to kill Inhumans. Now the question is how May will react to this information.
Speaking of May, it was great to have her back with SHIELD, though ironically, it took Garner supposedly being nearly killed for her to come back. It was also good to see Bobbi back in action after her time recuperating. They made a pretty good team, though I thought that Bobbi’s inclination to try to talk their way out of things might have actually worked. I guess May was just ready to get back in and kick some butt rather than talk.
I’m also glad that we were able to see a little bit of a continuation of Fitz and Simmons’ storyline. I was afraid that after the last episode which focused solely on Simmons’ time on the alien planet that they would both fade into the background this episode and we’d be left hanging. However, we did see that Fitz is making a little progress on his mission to help get Will back. I am wondering if Fitz will find any skeletons in Will’s closet. Even if he did, I doubt it would make much difference to Simmons, and that Fitz would still try to help him regardless. I’m guessing there won’t be significant movement on this storyline for little awhile though, as it looks like we’ll be concentrating on the Lash storyline next.
