It is time for the weekly update on the Summer Movie Draft! This week, we had Jason Bourne release, which did very well at the box office making $60 million. This likely clinches the victory for Violet for the Summer Movie Draft. David, Michelle and George all have an outside shot at getting number one, but it will be a tough earning.
Bad Moms was another movie that came out. It made $23.4 million, coming in third place behind Star Trek: Beyond which came in second place at $24 million in its second week at the box office.
As for who made correct guesses this week, we have Tim, earning 3 points for guessing the correct movie, and Austin Baroudi, Matthew D, and Daisy all earning their 8 points for guessing Jason Bourne and getting within the $5 million range of what the movie made, since it made $60 million! Unfortunately, my guess was fairly high at $75 million, but good job to all of our guessers! Even Tim was really close with a guess of $50 million!

Looking to This Weekend
Looking to this weekend, we have a big movie coming out–Suicide Squad, the film featuring various DC comic book villains being forced to be good guys, creating a sort of “Dirty Dozen” vibe set in a comic book universe. It is make or break time for David, as if he has any shot at taking number one from Violet, he needs a massive opening weekend. It has been getting some really good buzz, and could possibly do better than Batman v Superman.
As for the other movie coming out, it’s Nine Lives, starring Kevin Spacey as a family-neglecting business man who gets transformed into a cat, until he is able to reconnect with this family. While this movie could help George out if it does well, he would also need Ben-Hur to do amazing, and currently it is on track to be one of the biggest flops of the summer, unfortunately.
As for my predictions for the weekend, Suicide Squad will certainly be number one. As for what it makes is anyone’s guess. I will say that it will open to $120 million in the US. But it is not just me guessing, you should get your guesses into too, to enter our Summer Movie Draft Giveaway! We only have a couple weeks left, so get your guesses in before time runs out!
