Episode Recap of Heroes Reborn, Season 1 Episode 11: Send in the Clones
This episode of Heroes Reborn opens in Bedford, Missouri, with Malina and Luke driving. Malina wonders what happened to Noah, and Malina seems convinced Erica has something to do with it. Luke makes a plan to head to find Tommy in Colorado, and then to Odessa once Tommy is recovered. The two pick up some supplies, and Luke comments how little the rest of the world knows what is going on.
Harris has Quentin and Phoebe, and they are tailing Malina and Luke, with intent to kill Malina, Quentin seems to be a little against the idea of killing Malina, but seems to be going along with the plan for now.
Harris, Quentin, and Phoebe find Malina and Luke. Malina and Luke head into some corn fields to hide when their car is cut off. Malina begins creating a storm to get some cover, but Phoebe uses her power to block Malina’s powers. Luke tells her to go, and Luke plans to stay behind.
Phoebe and Quentin are able to find Malina, and Harris shows up too. Luke shows up and saves the day, knocking out Phoebe and takes out Harris. Quentin holds his gun to Malina, seems to waver, and wants to know what happened to Noah.
Luke and Malina take Quentin and Phoebe to a barn and interrogate the two. Luke is realizing that Phoebe is the one who caused the disaster that killed his son. Threatening Quentin, Quentin reveals Tommy went to the future, and is on their side now. Malina talks Luke down from killing Phoebe. Off in the distance, meanwhile, we see another Harris spying on the two of them.
In the future, Katana Girl and Tommy talk, and she tells Tommy about her mission her father sent her on to free the Master of Time and Space. Tommy remembers seeing her in the 9th Wonders comic books. Meanwhile, her father is being held captive by Erica, and is questioned. He is having trouble “rebuilding” the Fortress that Katana Girl destroyed. Erica is not happy about it. She warns him that the only thing keeping him alive is that he is the only person who can fix the problem.
Katana Girl and Tommy try to figure out the next move, and asks Tommy to send her to her final mission. Tommy does so, but takes her hair ribbon as proof of his loyalty. When Eric shows up, Tommy tells her that Katana Girl disappeared, and Tommy asks to go back to the present time to be shown how he will save everyone. Erica seems to agree with this move, but Tommy wonders why Odessa, Texas is the destination…
Katana Girl has ended up back at Sunstone Manner…
At Sunstone, Carlos, Farrah, The Haitian and Taylor are coming up with a plan. The Haitian wants to find Micah, while Carlos wants to find his nephew and the priest. Meanwhile, they also work on taking care of Parkman. Some of the clones find Carlos and Farrah, and they are able to dispatch them. They also take out the recording of Parkman that is keeping people in line. Then Carlos finds his body armor, and uses it to “even the odds” against the Evos.
Parkman is on the phone trying to get repairs done on the recording, but Rene and Taylor come in. Parkman tells them how hard it is to deal with his power, and it eventually got to him. He exclaims how much good he has done at this facility. In the middle of his tirade, he grabs a gun and wounds Rene. Parkman then gets control of his power, and stops Taylor from shooting him, and tells Rene to walk away.
Carlos and Farrah help to free the captives, and ask for help finding the people they are looking for. The priest seems free of Parkman, as does the rest of the group. Meanwhile, Parkman interrogates Taylor. He digs to find out why she hates her mother so much. Some of the clones show up, but Parkman has them execute themselves. Meanwhile, Carlos finds his nephew, Jose. Jose and Carlos head out to find Micah, while Farrah works to organize the Evos to fight the guards. Carlos finds Micah being held in a large confinement, and frees him.
Returning to Renautas with Erica, Tommy sees his mother and Emily. His mom seems concerned with Erica, but Tommy and Erica leave again. Erica shows Tommy a machine that he will be hooked up to. This machine will allow Tommy to send anyone–wearing a special watch–to the future to be saved. Erica gets s a call from a clone at Sunstone matter, who reveals that Katana Girl is at Sunstone matter. This angers Erica, realizing that Tommy is playing both sides.
Meanwhile, at Sunstone Manner, Carlos tries to free Micah. A clone attempts to stop them, and the priest saves Carlos. But another clone takes out the priest. Finally, Carlos is able to break the confinement Micah is being held in. Farrah shows up and warns Carlos they need to get ready.
Meanwhile, Katana Girl is dealing with all of the clones, but one specific one shows up wielding an axe, and wants a piece of her. The two duke it out and after some back and forth, Katana Girl stabs herself in order to stab and kill the clone–which turns out to be the real Harris, causing all of the rest of the clones to fade away. Meanwhile, Katana Girl fades away as Carlos approaches.
Micah has a computer, and is distraught he was used to help Erica. He warns the group that the solar flares are coming–tomorrow. Micah begins trying to locate Tommy and Malina by broadcasting a speech to all of the world, and shows that Suresh was actually being impersonated by a shapeshifter under Erica’s command.
Joanne, meanwhile, has been brought to Erica. Erica reveals to Joanne that she had headlines changed so that Joanne could continue on her Evo assassinations. Erica tells Joanne that she has a target for Joanne–Malina.
Meanwhile, people begin converging to Odessa–Malina and Luke, Micah, Carlos, Farrah and Jose, and Parkman and Taylor.
Josh’s Thoughts: Heroes Reborn, Season 1 Episode 11: Send in the Clones
I have to say—this was a long hiatus for Heroes Reborn especially for only having three episodes left. But I will say, I found this episode to be a pretty good one. I was not sure about this whole “Luke becomes a good guy” thing, but maybe it has been so long my feelings have dwindled on that, or maybe the show has written it well enough that I have less of a problem with it now. Either way, I am buying his loyalty switch now.
It looks like we are dangerously close to the world ending though, as it is the next day from the present. Tommy seems to be playing both sides, but more importantly, Erica knows it. I am wondering how this is going to play out, as Erica needs Tommy to complete her plan. She might have to hold his mother and/or girlfriend hostage to force him to do what she wants. That is the only way I can see him actually going through with what he is supposed to do for her.
I am curious to know why the main Harris chose to fight Katana Girl. It makes me wonder how his mind works in the clones. Do they have the same intelligence? Are they less intelligent? It seems like an unnecessary risk on his part to use his own body for the fight. I guess he felt so confident, and wanted the satisfaction of killing her to be his.
As for Parkman, he just seems like he has been twisted so far away from his original self in the old Heroes show, that I really don’t like him now.
But things seem to be coming to a head now, as everyone goes to Odessa. I am curious to see where Quentin ends up in the end, given he seems to be the flip-flopper of the bunch…
Violet’s Thoughts on Season 1 Episode 11 of Heroes Reborn: Send in the Clones
This was quite a long wait from the most recent episode before this — almost 2 months! I still think it was an odd decision to split it up like that leading into the 3 final episodes, but oh well. At first, how this episode picked up almost made me feel like I had missed or forgotten something, but I quickly acclimated and it was almost as if no time had passed at all.
Things are getting down to the wire now. They’re running out of time before the big solar flare event that wipes out the world. It seems like that wouldn’t matter when you have a Master of Time and Space than can freeze time, and presumably send the entire population, everyone and everything, into the future. But I guess that’s not how they’re intended to save the world. I suppose they’re supposed to try to leave the world intact and somehow head off those solar flares. It seems pretty underhanded that Erica went out and got Luke’s wife, Joanne, but that’s the kind of person Erica is anyway. I’m glad that we continue to see that Quentin is still somewhat the same Quentin we knew before the timeline got changed, and that he’s not evil, he’s only there because he wants to be with his sister. He could be a deciding factor in all of this, since Erica and Phoebe still think he’s on their side.
As for now, it looks like everyone left alive is heading to Odessa for what I’m expecting to be a big showdown. I was a little surprised to see Harris taken out of the game already, but it was a pretty cool fight. Is this really the end of Katana Girl, or will we see her pop up again somehow? Also, we still don’t know what happened to Noah, or Hiro for that matter. I’m guessing they’re together.
Alright, 2 episodes left. Let’s hope for an exciting conclusion!
