Episode Recap of Revolution, Season 2 Episode 18: Austin City Limits
Revolution this week begins with Jason, meeting back up with his father Tom Neville. Tom tells him to get back on track to find Monroe, but Jason refuses. Jason tells him he doesn’t know what the Patriots have made him do, but Tom refuses to provide any sympathy. Jason decides the best thing to do is it walk away. Tom yells for him, but Jason continues on.
Meanwhile, Monroe, Miles and Charlie discuss their (lack of) plans for Austin, when Jason makes an appearance. Jason manages to nab Connor at gunpoint, but offers to help Miles and Monroe. He gives himself up, and provides some intel from Truman’s office. Jason provides them with an address, and Jason wants to go with them. Charlie protests, but he pleads, and Miles seems to consider it.
Miles and Rachel talk, and Rachel decides to stay behind, partially because of what she is afraid Miles will do to the young Patriot soldiers. Most of the others pack up for the trip to Austin–Monroe, Miles, Charlie, Connor and Jason.
Back with Aaron and Priscilla, Aaron is sleeping while Priscilla is creepily playing with fire–literally. She toasts her hand, and Aaron awakens, and says “something smells good”–gross.
The “boys night out plus Charlie” arrive in Austin, which seems to be a bustling city. They find the address Jason gave them, and pay it a visit. Inside, Charlie and Connor question the shop keeper. They get some information, and move upstairs to see what’s going on. After some trap disarming, they search the room. They discover the Patriot’s next target, the former leader of Texas.
Monroe and Miles decide to pay him a visit, and find him having some S&M fun with a dominatrix. Miles and Monroe have a little fun themselves, and surprise the former leader themselves. Frank, the former leader, meets with the two. Frank seems to believe the story, and says it makes sense with what is going on with the rest of what has been going on in town. He plans to rally the troops, and go against the Patriots. He decides to “put on some pants” which turns out to be a bad idea–his dominatrix girls were actually spies keeping an eye on Frank, and they decide his number is up.
Miles and Monroe have to make a quick getaway after the guards hear the commotion, and seeing Monroe and Miles over Frank’s body, demand their surrender. Miles and Monroe decide to flee instead.
Back with Rachel, Jason, and Connor, they are spotted by a Patriot, and Jason pummels the guy’s face in. Charlie gets him to stop, but the man is already unconscious.
Later, Aaron talks with Priscilla, and he seems perplexed by her actions lately. Priscilla seems to sense something suddenly though, and tells Aaron to hide. Just as they are able to, a wagon goes by, that seems to be carrying prisoners.
Back with Jason, he is interrogating the man, but the man turns the conversation back on Jason. Jason calls him out though, and decides it is time for torture. Miles and Monroe return to Charlie, Jason and Connor, and Jason has been successful in extraction of the plan for the Texas president. Miles decides they should stop the assassination, despite Monroe’s personal protest.
Again, back with Priscilla, Aaron is even more concerned about her. He frantically begins asking what is going on with her. He then accuses her of being the “nano”. She denies it–but then comes clean. Aaron demands Priscilla to be free, but the nano refuses, as they want to feel what it is to be human.
Meanwhile, Monroe, Miles, Charlie, Connor and Jason move in to stop the assassination. They do not have much of plan, other than finding Willoughby Patriots. The Texas leader makes a speech, as the group looks around for suspects. Jason is nabbed by some Patriots, and a woman reads off his number, activating him as a Patriot. She questions Jason, and learns Miles plan to stop the assassination. She then hands him a bag, and tells him, he is “the backup”.
Charlie spots Jason heading for a building, and follows. It turns out, he has a rifle, and will be shooting General Carver from afar. Charlie asks what he is up to, and Jason plays it off as him trying to spot the assassin. She spots the sniper rifle however, and he begins to attack her. Unrelenting, Jason seems about to kill Charlie, when she is able to stab him, then blows his innards out with the sniper rifle at close range after she pleads for him to stop unsuccessfully.
Outside, Monroe and Miles have spotted a Patriot kid that is likely the assassin. The gunshot from Charlie shooting Jason is heard outside, and causes a commotion. Miles manages to shoot the would-be kid assassin before General Carver is murdered. The Texan leader is rushed to safety as Charlie mourns Jason’s death. Outside, Miles, Monroe and Connor make a run for it.
Back in Willoughby, Aaron and Priscilla have come, and run into Rachel. What a wonderful reunion!
Josh’s Thoughts: Revolution, Season 2 Episode 18: Austin City Limits
This was a sad ending for Jason. I was hoping for a little more “good-guy” acts out of Jason, but I had a feeling when the Revolution promotions kept saying someone was dying, I figured it had to be him. I have a feeling Tom Neville will not be too happy with Miles and Monroe for getting his kid killed. Despite Tom being cold hearted, he did love his son. It is hard to say at this point who Tom will take his revenge out on however. Will he believe Miles and Monroe’s story of how Jason died? I guess we’ll see…
As for Priscilla and the nano-tech, I am curious how long she has been “possessed”. It seems like maybe about the same time Aaron was stuck in “The Matrix”, since the nano seems to reference that. Now what does the nano want with Rachel? it seems they/she were specifically hunting her down, and I am sure it wasn’t just for a friendly visit.
It looks like California will be coming up in Revolution finally. It kind of seems almost intentional how Revolution seems to be following the chronological order of how the US originally acquired its territory. Perhaps by the end of the series we will be seeing Alaska and Hawaii? I guess time will tell!
Violet’s Thoughts on Season 2 Episode 18 of Revolution: Austin City Limits
It was sad that Jason died. I felt bad for him because he knew what was going on with himself, that the Patriots were controlling him, making him do things that he didn’t want to do, and there wasn’t anything he could do about it. I don’t know what would be worse, remembering what they made him do, or not being able to remember the things they made him do. It was also sad because Charlie was actually able to trust him again. We’re still not exactly clear on what happened to their romance. Things kind of skipped ahead from the end of last season, when she and Jason had just become a couple, to the beginning of this season, where she’s sleeping with a random guy. I guess we were just supposed to fill in the gaps ourselves from the flashbacks, none of which specifically addressed Charlie and Jason’s relationship. How awkward was it for her to be working together with her old lover and her new lover? Well, maybe Connor was a one time thing actually. So to put it more accurately, how awkward was it for her to be working together with the first guy she slept with and the most recent guy she’s slept with?
Speaking of sleeping with people, we also learned that Priscilla has been possessed by the nanotech ever since they went into “The Matrix”! That means that when Aaron and Priscilla slept together recently, Aaron was actually making love to the nanos, rather than Priscilla! And the nanos said they enjoyed it. Weeeirrrd… Anyway, looks like the gang is slowly getting back together again!
