Revolution episode Recap: Come Blow Your Horn, the Details
Dr. Horn
On Season 2 Episode 8 of Revolution, Miles is torturing a Patriot, demanding to know where Dr. Horn is. The soldier warns Miles that he is looking for him. Meanwhile, Charlie spies on a meeting Truman is holding in the town, who is framing Miles for the bombing from last episode. He also names Aaron as an accomplice. Porter then “confirms” these allegations. He tries to absolve Rachel and Charlie of Miles’ crimes.
Monroe and Aaron are hiding out, and waiting for the meet up. Meanwhile, Aaron’s girlfriend, Cynthia, is terrified of Aaron. Charlie visits Miles and Rachel, who are still dealing with the Patriot. Charlie tells Rachel of the meeting. Rachel refuses to leave town until they are able to kill Horn.
Cynthia Learns the Truth about Her Husband
Back with Miles, he is watching over a camp. Meanwhile, Horn talks with Porter, and threatens Rachel’s life and the town’s life if they can’t find Pittman. Truman objects to the public executions, however, due to their “plan” in motion. We then see Horn rub his hands, potentially he has some sort of ailment?
Charlie and Rachel talk, and Charlie tries to defend her grandfather for what he has done. Rachel disagrees. Miles returns, and is worried they will be found, but they think they found the headquarters. Miles warns that Porter is also there, so any device would kill him too, if they go the bomb route.
Aaron talks with Cynthia, and she asks Aaron if he killed her husband. He admits to it. She seems to be most mad about Aaron lying to her about his death. Monroe then begins to head to find Miles. They are jumped by a group of Patriots, and Monroe jumps into action, dispatching them. Reinforcements are on the way. Monroe flees, leaving Cynthia and Aaron behind, and they are captured.
Dr. Horn’s True Intentions
Charlie and Rachel begin working on a device, perhaps a bomb? Rachel explains the device, and it’s a dirty bomb. Rachel asks what happens if Grandpa is there. Rachel seems set on going no matter what, while Charlie is not so much.
Back at Patriot HQ, Dr. Horn injects himself with a medicine of some sort. We see he has plans for Aaron, involving poking and prodding with tools. Outside, Miles and Rachel are watching the Patriots. Charlie riles the dogs up with a dog whistle, as Rachel moves in. Miles then sees Porter coming back to the building, and signals to Rachel. She seems resolved in continuing her plan. Miles then spots a caravan coming back, and sees Aaron and Cynthia have been caught. Rachel is working on her bomb, and Aaron and Cynthia are brought into the HQ. Miles shows up just in time to stop Rachel, and tells her Aaron is inside now.
Horn begins his poking and prodding, as Aaron pleads for Cynthia’s safety. Porter is told to leave, but seems to pause when he hears the agony of Aaron. Porter continues walking, and Rachel and Charlie find him, and capture him by force. Miles and Rachel question Porter. Miles comes up with a plan, and Dr. Porter will have to help. Porter explains his actions, where he got medicine in exchange for his information.
Truman Hunts for Miles
Suddenly, Truman yells into their building, for them to surrender. Porter offers to stay behind to get them a couple minutes to escape. Charlie refuses to allow it. Outside, Porter talks with Truman. He then pulls a knife on Truman. Charlie, Rachel and Miles flee after Porter is subdued. Truman aims at Porter’s head, contemplating how to proceed as his men chase the other three down.
Dr. Horn Wants Results
Dr. Horn has continued his experiments, and Aaron is healing rapidly. Horn demands to know why. We learn that Horn has a brain tumor, which is causing the trembling in his hands. He tells Aaron he needs his miracle. Outside, Miles and Rachel and Charlie try to come up with a plan to save Porter and Aaron. Meanwhile, Doctor Horn moves to phase 2 of his testing, where he brings Cynthia in. Horn then has a man stab Cynthia, in the hopes that Aaron is able to heal her.
Ole Neville at it Again
Tom Neville visits a Regional Patriot camp in North Carolina. He hands a solider a wedding ring, and demands to speak to the commander. He gets the meeting he is looking for. Tom offers Allenford’s husband the ability to turn her in as a traitor, which would reinforce his own career. He asks what Neville wants, to which he answers, a friend in high places.
Jason is holding Allenford hostage, who is trying to escape. Allenford tries to talk sense into Jason, but Jason snaps back into “brainwashed” mode. Allenford realizes he is not completely better yet. Tom brings Allenford’s husband back, and he pulls a gun on Neville. They talk back and forth about the next move, and Neville tells him that if he saves his wife, he will be branded a traitor.
Tom and Roger, the husband, come to where Allenford is being held. Allenford tells Roger to kill both Neville and Jason so they can run. Roger then shoots her dead.
Josh’s Thoughts: Revolution, Season 2 Episode 8: Come Blow Your Horn
This week’s episode of Revolution was interesting, and a big cliffhanger. Cynthia is currently bleeding out and Aaron is so far, helpless to stop it. Horn is right in his twisted theory though—emotions are the key to activating his powers for the time being. If Aaron were able to save Cynthia, this would not bode well for Aaron I have a feeling—as he will be poked and prodded until he heals Dr. Horn, and then used for other nefarious action. The hole I see for Dr. Horn is—how can he possibly stop Aaron from rebelling against him once Aaron has control of his powers? We know that Aaron has the ability to affect people who aren’t even in his vicinity. It really is a double-edged sword for Horn once Aaron develops. He may get healed, or he may be burned alive.
Another shocking part of this episode was Rachel’s willingness to sacrifice her father for the sake of stopping Horn and Truman. But when it came down to Aaron, she stopped. I guess if you betray Rachel, even if you are family, she will sacrifice you if needed.
Sadly for Miles, he has kind of turned to what he was hoping to not have to do—torture people for information. A few episodes ago he lashed out at Rachel, saying that one of the reasons he wants Monroe around is to do this type of “dirty work” so he doesn’t have to. Yet he still has had to.
Speaking of our favorite super-villain turned good guy, Monroe sure was a jerk leaving Aaron to be captured. Hopefully, if he is truly trying to repent for what he has done, he will come back and help out.
I am still really into Season 2 of Revolution, though. I guess I am a little worried how Aaron’s powers are handled. But overall, I am very pleased with where it is going so far.
Violet’s Thoughts on Season 2 Episode 8 of Revolution: Come Blow Your Horn
Finally we get the big reveal on Dr. Horn that the reason he’s gone through all this trouble to find Rachel, to get information about the nanites, to capture Aaron, has all been because he has a brain tumor. Apparently scientific advisor to the President is a pretty high ranking job, considering that it seems he gets to boss everyone else around. I feel bad for Cynthia, who probably isn’t even sure of her feelings for Aaron now that she knows what he is capable of, and has seen his powers in action, and she is being held as a pawn in Dr. Horn’s experiment to try to get an emotional reaction out of Aaron. The show left us with a big cliffhanger, wondering what is going to happen next!
Charlie seemed almost like a little kid this episode when she was asking what was going to happen to Gene. Her tone seemed like a small child asking, “Mommy, what’s going to happen to Grandpa?” However, I tended to agree with Charlie on this one, as she seemed to be the voice of reason, reminding Rachel that despite what Gene has done, he’s still Grandpa, and he’s still Rachel’s father. Also, it seemed hypocritical of Rachel being so unforgiving toward her own father, when she expected her daughter to be forgiving of her, which she has been.
Once again, Monroe shows his true colors, and reminds us that he’s not really a friend, he’s merely a temporary ally who’s only looking out for his own interests. Though, practically speaking, I don’t really blame him from running away from a huge group of Patriot soldiers when he’s the only one around that can actually fight. A few guys, sure. But not that many guys, not by himself.
As for Neville, looks like he’s climbing his way up the Patriot ladder rather quickly. I wondering what Commander Allenford has in store for Neville. Also curious to know the extent of Jason’s brainwash. We shall soon find out!
