Comic-Con International announced today that Preregistration for San Diego Comic-Con 2016 will take place this Saturday, November 14, at 9:00am PT! This Preregistration sale is open only to those who purchased badges and attended San Diego Comic-Con 2015, and validated their 2015 badge ID number before the September 15 deadline. If this does not apply to you, don’t worry, you will have a chance to buy SDCC 2016 badges in the Open Online Registration sale, which will take place in early 2016. Read on for all the details!
If you are eligible for SDCC 2016 Preregistration, you should have received an email alerting you about the Prereg date. If you think you should have received the email, but haven’t yet, check your spam folder, as that’s where ours was!
You will be able to log into the Waiting Room starting at 8:00am, though it doesn’t matter what time you arrive in the Waiting Room, as long as it’s before 9:00am, when the Preregistration starts. At that time, you will be placed in a random order to buy tickets, and you will not be given a number letting you know your place in line, like attendees had been given in previous years. In past years, some people who logged into the Waiting Room as soon as it opened ended up not getting a badge, and some people who logged in at 8:59am ended up getting 4 Days with Preview Night, and all variations in between, so it truly does not matter what time you log into the Waiting Room, as it is all random.
You will need your personal registration code in order to enter the Waiting Room, which you can find in your Preregistration email or by logging into your CCI Member ID. If you make it into a registration session, you will be able to buy badges for up to three people, which includes yourself and up to 2 others. You’ll need to know the last name and Member ID of anyone you buy badges for, and anyone that you buy badges for must also be eligible for Preregistration. You can only use one credit card for the transaction, for which you will have 15 minutes to complete.
CCI will email the Waiting Room link to eligible attendees at least 24 hours before Prereg starts, so keep an eye on your email, including your spam folder!
New This Year:
- In previous years, the Waiting Room opened at 7:00am PT, 2 hours before Preregistration started, but this year the Waiting Room opens at 8:00am PT, only one hour before Preregistration starts.
- Badges will be using RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology, which will help prevent counterfeited badges.
- CCI will mail your badge to you, but only if it’s a United States address. CCI will not ship to an international address, so if this applies to you, you would still have to pick up your badge on site. Additionally, all child badges must be picked up on site. If your badge gets lost in the mail, the RFID technology will allow CCI to deactivate the missing badge and issue you a new badge on site.
- The price of an Adult badge has increased $5 per day, coming to a total of $245 to purchase a 4-Day badge with Preview Night, compared to last year’s total price of $220. See below for SDCC 2016 badge prices:

Below is the email that was sent out today:
“Comic-Con 2016 Attendee Preregistration will begin shortly after 9:00 AM Pacific Standard Time (PST) on Saturday, November 14, 2015. The EPIC Registration waiting room will open at 8:00 AM PST for registration code authorization.
Registration Code: [redacted]
At least 24 hours prior to November 14, you will receive an email with a link to the EPIC Registration waiting room. Your personal registration code can also be found in your Comic-Con Member ID account under the “Registration Info” tab.
We encourage you to add do-not-reply@comic-con.org and registration@epicreg.com as an approved/authorized sender to your email account.
Confused about why there are two different opening times? For answers to these important questions and others, we strongly encourage you to read the Comic-Con 2016 Attendee Preregistration instructions and check out our new step-by-step registration session walk thru!
Since there are more eligible attendees than available badges, not everyone will be able to purchase a badge during Attendee Preregistration. If you are unable to obtain a badge during preregistration, you may be eligible to participate in Open Online Registration at a later date.
Thank you for your continued support and good luck!
Sincerely,
Comic-Con International
