Were you hoping to snag a badge to San Diego Comic-Con in the badge resale? Read on for some important information!
The norm in the past few years is for there to be a badge resale to take place in the couple of months leading up to San Diego Comic-Con, where badges are made available from the inventory of badges that have been returned for refunds. Unfortunately for SDCC 2014 hopefuls, although the badge resale deadline isn’t until May 23, Comic-Con International announced today via the Toucan Blog that there would be no badge resale this year:
“In past years Comic-Con International has been able to hold a sale of returned and unallocated badges in June. Unfortunately, due to an extremely low rate of refunds and cancellations this year, we are not able to hold a resale of Comic-Con 2014 badges. Thank you for your support and understanding.”
This hits the GB Reviews team pretty hard because, although Violet has a 4-day SDCC badge, we were only able to secure Thursday, Friday, and Sunday for Josh. We had been hoping for the badge resale to be our one last chance to get Josh a Saturday badge, but alas, it was not meant to be.
The question is, what is CCI going to do with the badges that were returned then? We can only speculate and hope that there will be another chance for badges in some other way!
That’s really odd. You know they have SOME badges that were returned or refunded, so it makes you wonder what exactly they plan to do with those if they’re not going to put them back up for sale.
