SDCC 2018 Returning Registration Information

San Diego Comic-Con 2017 was only a few weeks ago, but it’s time to start thinking about SDCC 2018 already!

Although the Returning Registration date for SDCC 2018, which takes place July 18-22, 2018, has not been announced yet, Comic-Con International has provided some important information about it on its Toucan Blog and also by sending emails to SDCC 2017 attendees.

If you purchased a badge for SDCC 2017, then you will be eligible for Returning Registration, where you may have the opportunity to purchase SDCC 2018 badges for up to three people, including yourself, who all must be eligible for Returning Registration. Those who are not eligible for Returning Registration will have to wait until Open Registration. You can double check your eligibility by signing into your Member ID account, where it will indicate a green check mark in the upper right corner, saying “OK CCI’18 Attendee Return Reg.” Additionally, when you click on the “Registration Info” tab, you will see the following message:

If a child attended SDCC 2017 with a paid adult attendee, and the child is 13 years or older as of September 30, 2017, then that child will be eligible to participate in SDCC 2018 Returning Registration. Note that in this case, you must follow the Child-to-Junior badge validation process by September 20, 2017, wherein you must create a Member ID, selecting “Junior” as the membership type, and provide the 9-character badge number that is located on the back of the SDCC 2017 Child badge. [8/17/2017 UPDATE] The deadline for Child-to-Junior badge validation has been extended to October 6, 2017. 

At the SDCC 2017 Talk Back panel, Comic-Con International President John Rogers indicated that SDCC 2018 Returning Registration would happen this Fall. This is in contrast to SDCC 2017 registration dates, which occurred quite a bit later than normal, with Returning Registration not occurring until March 11, 2017, and Open Registration on April 8, 2017.  For reference, SDCC 2015 and 2016 Returning Registration took place in November, while Open Registration occurred in February.
