The San Diego Comic-Con Early Bird Hotel Sale started today! If you were able to score SDCC badges during Preregistration, and you don’t mind staying in the Hotel Circle/Mission Valley area, you might want to consider booking your room at one of the nine hotels participating in the Early Bird Hotel Sale. Read on for more details!
As usual, no downtown hotels are available during the Early Bird Hotel Sale. However, if you don’t want to risk being shut out of any hotel room at all during the regular hotel sale (which unfortunately did happen to some people), and if you’re more concerned about saving money than having a hotel in close proximity to the Convention Center, then the Early Bird Hotel Sale is a great option. One drawback to the Sale is that you have to pay for your entire stay in advance, and there are no refunds.
The hotels participating in the sale are as follows: Best Western Seven Seas, Courtyard by Marriott SD Mission Valley, Crowne Plaza San Diego, DoubleTree San Diego Mission Valley, Hilton San Diego Mission Valley, San Diego Marriott Mission Valley, Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina, Sheraton San Diego – Mission Valley, and Town and County Resort. Prices vary from hotel to hotel, and sometimes depend on the number of people staying in your room, as well as the length of your stay. The least expensive is Best Western Seven Seas at $163 per night with a 3 night minimum stay (number of beds and people in the room does not matter), while the most expensive, if you want 2 beds and have 4 people, is Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina at $244 per night with a 4 night minimum stay.
Note that some of these hotels charge for parking, and that cost is not included in the price of the hotel room. Last year we participated in the Early Bird Hotel Sale and stayed at the Hilton, at which it was an additional $14/day to park. However, if you book your room at Courtyard by Marriott, as a special incentive through this sale, complimentary parking is included for up to 2 cars per room per day.
The Early Bird Hotel Sale ends April 8, 2014. The regular hotel sale will take place at some point after that date.

Will you be booking your SDCC room through the Early Bird Hotel Sale, or will you wait until the regular hotel sale to try your chances at getting one of the coveted downtown hotels, such as the Hilton San Diego Bayfront? Leave your comments below!
