This year was our first time attending Silicon Valley Comic Con, which took place April 6-8, 2018. Although the convention began on Friday evening, we were unable to make it until Saturday morning. We flew in early from Orange County, California and made it to the San Jose Convention Center in plenty of time for the con to start. However, we spent almost all of our day in panels in the main room, 220BC.
By the time our final panel of the day, Jewel Staite, ended, it was about 6pm. Fortunately, the Exhibit Hall was open until 7pm, so we decided to walk the show floor. We were able to take a stroll of the entire Exhibit Hall area, including Artist Alley, within that one hour time frame, so it seemed like it was on the smaller side.
When compared to other conventions we attend, Long Beach Comic Con is probably one of the smaller ones. We felt like even Long Beach Comic Con’s Exhibit Hall floor may have been bigger than Silicon Valley Comic Con. As for ease of walking around the show floor, the aisles were fairly wide, and I can’t recall ever having any trouble with it being too crowded. Regarding vendors, there were your typical Funko Pop figures and other toy collectibles, as well as several comic book vendors. Guest autographs also took up a good portion of the floor space, situated off to one side of the Exhibit Hall, while the Artist Alley had its own space on the opposite side, kind of in a different room, but still connected to the main Exhibit Hall.
We kept noticing that there were interestingly a good number of vendors selling Corgi items. NASA had its own booth, which was quite fitting, considering the tech aspect of SVCC, plus the fact that NASA sponsored a few panels. Oh, and there was a booth that was giving out free cotton candy. Yes, completely free, no catch. There seemed to always be a significant, though not insane, line for it.

When I win the lottery, I think I’ll just go Con hopping.
Wish I was there for the Jewel panel 🙁
