Are you looking for something to do this Labor Day weekend? Do you live in the Los Angeles area? Do you like gaming, especially board games? You might be interested in Strategicon’s Gateway 2015, which takes place September 4-7! Read on for more details.
Strategicon holds three 4-day events every year: Orccon on President’s Day weekend, Gamex on Memorial Day weekend, and Gateway on Labor Day weekend, each of which take place at the Hilton Los Angeles Airport, located at 5711 West Century Blvd, Los Angeles, CA.
At Gateway 2015, there will be seminars, game demonstrations, and tournaments. Different types of games include board games, card games, LARPs (live action role playing), RPGs (role playing games), family games, war games, miniatures, and even video games. Click here for a full schedule of events.
There’s also an Open Gaming room that never closes throughout the convention, with tables set up where you can bring any games to play, either from your own collection, or which you check out from the Game Library. Of course, there’s also a Dealers Room where you can buy board games and various collectibles.
Pre-registration is no longer available, but you can buy badges at the door. It’s $60 for a 4-day con badge, $30 for a one day Saturday or Sunday badge, or $15 for a one day Friday or Monday badge. Children 12 and under are $5 with adult admission.
This weekend will be our first time attending a Strategicon event, or any type of gaming convention for that matter, so we’re not really sure what to expect! However, rest assured we will report back on our experience.
Gateway 2015 starts at noon on Friday, September 4, and goes through 6:00pm on Monday, September 7.
