Episode Recap of The Flash, Season 2 Episode 13: Welcome to Earth-2
The Flash team has been busy closing up all the breaches, except for the one at STAR Labs.
Before going through the breach, Barry has dinner with Joe and Iris. Barry assures Iris that he’s not doing this just as an escape.
Jay gives them some advice on passing through the breach. Barry instructs them to close the breach if they’re not back in 48 hours. Dr. Wells, Barry, and Cisco pass through the breach to go save Dr. Wells’s daughter, Jessie. After they go in, the breach destabilizes – which means they’ll be trapped there as long as it’s unstable.
The three make it through safely, and Cisco and Barry marvel at Earth-2. They go around taking selfies at STAR Labs. While there, they run into Henry Hewitt, which unsettles Cisco and Barry, but he’s a nice normal lab tech on Earth-2. In Harry’s office, we learn that there’s a citywide curfew in response to recent terror attacks, and that Snart is the mayor. Cisco puts on his Vibe glasses, but they’re not working. He figures out that the wavelength trigger is not responding due to frequency imbalance. Harry realizes with dismay that that Earth-2 vibrates on a different frequency than Earth-1. Just then, they see Barry’s doppelganger on TV, who is also a CSI. Barry speeds over and brings his doppelganger back to STAR Labs. The doppelganger fanboys over meeting Harry. Barry tasers his doppelganger to knock him out and take his clothes, so that he can go to CCPD without suspicion.
At the police station, the Earth-1 Captain is a criminal, Iris is a detective, and Floyd Lawton, aka Deadshot, is her partner. Iris takes Barry into a side hallway and starts making out with him. It turns out they are married. She is confused that her meta-human alert app is saying he’s a meta-human, but figures it’s on the fritz. They go home together.
It turns out that Caitlin is a meta-human on Earth-2 with the power of freezing things and shooting ice. Ronnie is alive on Earth-2 as well, and seems to have firepower. They’re a couple — and both bad guys.
At Iris and Barry’s home, which is the same house as in Earth-1, Barry is embarrassed by Iris removing her shirt in front of him. Iris tells him that his mom called, so he uses the speed dial on the house phone to call her. Barry tears up while talking to his mom.
Back at STAR Labs, Harry is wondering what’s taking Barry so long. Cisco wonders where his own double is. Harry yells at Cisco to get back to work looking for Zoom.
Iris and Barry go to Jitterbugs, which the Earth-2 version of Jitters, except it’s a lounge — at which Joe is a singer. It turns out that the Earth-2 Joe and Barry don’t get along great.
Back on Earth-1, Caitlin and Jay aren’t making much progress on stabilizing the breach. There’s also another problem — a meta-human is terrorizing the city and demanding The Flash to show his face. Joe wants Jay to take the Velocity 6 serum so that he can protect the city in Barry’s absence. However, Jay refuses to take the V6. Joe stalks off in anger. Jay reveals to Caitlin that it was V6 that caused him to lose his powers. Caitlin says she’ll figure this out.
At Jitterbugs, Caitlin and Ronnie go looking for someone who’s in the wrong universe. Iris pulls her gun on them and say they’re under arrest, while the crowd runs away. Barry pleads with Caitlin not to do this, but she corrects him and attacks him, saying her name is Killer Frost. Just as Ronnie hurls a fireball at Iris, Joe jumps in to protect her, and takes the hit for her. As Iris runs to her father’s side, Barry speeds outside and faces Killer Frost and Ronnie. Barry deflects one of Ronnie’s fireballs with the helmet he pulls off of a Jay Garrick statue, and the fire hits Killer Frost. She and Ronnie retreat for the time being.
Barry returns to STAR Labs and reports what has happened. Cisco admires Killer Frost’s and Deathstorm’s names. Harry realizes that if they know Barry is here, it’s not long before Zoom finds out too. Barry wants to go back to Joe and Iris, but Harry tries to convince him that they’re not the same people he cares about. However, Barry disagrees, and says they’re his family.
On Earth-1, Joe looks into the meta-human terrorist, Adam Fells. Wally shows up to see Joe, but just then the police station starts shaking. The Captain informs Joe that Fells has been spotted, so Joe has to head out.
Barry joins Iris at Joe’s bedside at the hospital. After a heartfelt exchange with Iris, Joe tells Barry to take care of Iris, then he passes away. Barry holds Iris as she breaks down crying.
Later, Barry brings Cisco to the police station and introduces him to Iris, telling her that he’s built a weapon that he thinks can neutralize Killer Frost’s powers. She refuses to let Barry come with her, and reluctantly agrees to let Cisco.
On Earth-1, the CCPD confronts Fells. However, Fells demands to see The Flash, and figures out that he’s gone. Just then, Jay Garrick speeds onto the scene — it turns out he’s taken Velocity 7. Unfortunately, it wears off pretty quickly, and Joe has to save Jay by shooting at Fells, who runs away.
On Earth-2, Iris, Lawton, and Cisco arrive at a warehouse and confront Killer Frost and Deathstorm. Cisco asks Ronnie if Martin Stein is still in there, but Ronnie says he hasn’t let him out in years. Cisco soon meets his doppelganger, for whom Killer Frost and Deathstorm work. His code name is Reverb. Reverb suggests to Cisco that together they could be gods and run Central City. However, Cisco declines, as Barry speeds in. Iris is able to shoot Killer Frost, which angers Deathstorm, who starts hurling fireballs. Lawton comes out shooting at Reverb, but he’s a terrible shot, and Reverb uses his powers to throw Lawton from across the room without even touching him. Cisco is surprised that Reverb has such powers, and Reverb says he can show him. Deathstorm and Reverb team up on attacking The Flash, as Killer Frost reminds them that Zoom wanted The Flash alive.
Zoom runs in and kills Deathstorm for his disobedience. He vibrates his hand in puts it into Reverb’s chest, the same way Reverse Flash did to Cisco. Zoom then grabs Killer Frost by the neck, saying he’s glad at least one of them knows their place, then he speeds off with Barry, and Killer Frost runs away.
On Earth-1, Caitlin patches up Jay. They discuss the fact that they have 1 day to fix the breach, or Barry and Cisco could be stuck on Earth-2 forever.
On Earth-2, Barry wakes up trapped in one of Zoom’s cells. Barry sees Jessie and tells her he’s there with her dad and promises they’ll get her out. Zoom runs up and tells him it’s not wise to make promises he can’t keep, and tells Barry that this is the last place he’ll ever see.
Violet’s Thoughts on Season 2 Episode 13 of The Flash: Welcome to Earth-2
This was awesome! I love alternate universes, and I’m glad that the show has finally taken us to Earth-2. Kind of interesting how some of the characters who have powers in Earth-1 don’t have powers in Earth-2, and vice versa, and how some of the characters seem to have the same powers! How does that happen?? For example, how do we know, or the characters themselves even know, that Cisco and Reverb actually have the same powers? Maybe Reverb’s powers are different, and maybe Cisco can’t actually do the things that Reverb was doing. Speaking of which, will Cisco now be lured to the dark side? Also, why does Cisco assume (and turn out to be right) that Martin Stein is inside of Ronnie? He could just be his own thing, and if there is someone else inside of him, that doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s Martin Stein.
But anyway, it was still fun to see the similarities and differences. Interesting that Earth-2’s technology is more advanced than that of Earth-1, yet the fashion and decorations, and overall look was that of retro 1940s. I wonder if it’s actually “retro” to them though, or if this is the first time this type of style has come about in this universe.
In any case, I’ll enjoy our time on Earth-2 for the limited time that we’re here. Glad it’s a two part episode rather than just one and done.
Josh’s Thoughts: The Flash, Season 2 Episode 13: Welcome to Earth-2
On this episode of The Flash, it was pretty interesting see Barry, Cisco and Wells go to Earth 2 (well, go back for Wells). Seeing the “dopplegangers” of Barry, Cisco, Caitlyn, Joe and Iris was intriguing. It was funny seeing other characters like Deadshot show up here too. It is too bad that their trip to Earth 2 is basically what ends up getting Joe killed.
I have a feeling this weird interaction between Barry and Earth 2 Iris is going to re-setup the love interest between Barry and Iris. The odd thing about this situation is that Barry seems to get attached to these Earth 2 people, despite them basically being completely different people than the Earth 1 counterparts. Wells is sort of right in his opinion of not caring about them, but in the larger sense of humanity, it would be nice for Barry to care.
Now that Zoom has taken down “Reaver” and “Deathstorm”, I have a feeling Killer Frost will be teaming up with the rest of the team to take on Zoom, and rescue Barry. She seems to have a vendetta to fulfill now, and revenge can be a big motivator for whose side you’re on it would seem.
So far, I really like this Earth 2 visit. We will have to see how it goes in the next episode, to see if they can take down Zoom, and rescue Barry!
Scenes from The Flash, Season 2 Episode 14: Escape from Earth-2
Here are scenes from the next episode of The Flash, titled Escape from Earth-2:
I really wanted to like this show but he reminds me too much of the scrawny guy in the latest instalment of Spiderman. And the acting just falls flat-it does not feel right. We all have an opinion but hey Smallville will forever be my favorite superhero show.
I like these earth 2 episodes. It was fill to see all their doppelgangers. This show gas been on a rise ever since season 1. Keeps getting better and better. Can’t wait to see Barry in his final battle with com.
Sorry. Has* been not gas. Typo
Fun* not fill, I hate autocorrect
